Being away from home and pursuing a degree in BioMedicine in Newcastle, I was very lonely and feeling out of place. I started to familiarize myself with new surroundings and food places to feel at home.

Food is no doubt part of one’s identity, and wherever you are, you can find a home through a great dish. I found solace in Newcastle`s takeaway food outlets and became close friends with the owners. I would visit there quite often and thoroughly enjoyed the flavours and the food, especially the Doner platters, The Chicken Parmo and The Garlic (Dilston sauce).

When I moved back to Lahore after completing my degree, I missed the food in Newcastle so much that I decided to take the recipes from my friends and introduced the same flavours’ to the people in Lahore. The name “Original Geordie” was hence decided. Geordie is the name of the people living in the North of England including Newcastle
